One of the most important exhibitions happened during my residency at Studio 18. The City of Pembroke Pines was very honored to host its very first International Show. Cradle Of Life: Araism Movement 12, a snapshot of life in Africa.  With the first beat of the drums we all knew we were in for a treat.

At the opening reception, we got to hear from the artists as they spoke about their magnificent paintings and shared the rich history and wonder behind the movement.  We learned that this was their first time in America and we all felt their enthusiasm. We mixed and mingled, tasted a sampling of African cuisine, had a sip of wine and then we danced….

During their time in residence, they stayed very busy, hanging the show and creating new work. As artists at Studio 18 we were very lucky, we had the chance to spend time with our new friends. We spent a day learning about their customs and culture, as well, we all got a lesson on how to paint in their unique style. It was a magical experience for them and for us!
