Tamarac Mainland Park wall mural project was a perfect opportunity for integrating art into Broward County, creating a sense of place, while engaging the community to participate in celebrating Broward’s beautiful parks. Isabel Perez Salazar and I collaborated to apply for this opportunity. Together we won the contract and completed the mural in record time.
Our design process included research and dialogue to discover the community identity, city landmarks and social history. We proposed a very bright colorful uplifting mural utilizing the primary and secondary color spectrum. The main color blocking features an ombre effect. The figures are silhouettes depicting a man, women and child being active. We introduced nature with the flowers, birds and water. The balloons remind us to be playful and add a special, whimsical touch.
